Located in less than an hour’s drive from Dubai is this enormous terracotta-coloured dune that feels as if you’re a million miles away from the far-reaching confines of the cities. Expert advice states that good pitching spots are areas near the few farms dotted along the road as you pass Big Red. If you are too tired of the scorching desert sun and want oases nearby, you can choose from an array of pools to dive into and cool off. The Wadi Madbah is located at a distance of 2.5 hours from Dubai. It is the perfect location for people who like splashing around in one of the secluded pools and waterfalls located in deserts.


If you are a mountain climber in pursuit of a rock climbing experience in Dubai, then Jabal Yibir is just the rock for you. Featuring everything for die hard camping enthusiasts, this tourist attraction is also a refuge from the hotter climates as it is located high up in the mountains. Jabal Yibir is the highest peak of the UAE and there are some really lovely camping spots around the height of 400 metres along this giant piece of rock measuring 1,350 metres. It can be reached from Dubai in mere 1.5 hours and is perhaps the best spot for camping in the emirates.


If you simply love surfing then Al Gharbia is the perfect place for you. There is a kitesurfing competition that takes place here every year and all watersports enthusiasts know about it. The morning winds are excellent for kite surfing along the long stretch of coast in Mirfa. It is located at a distance of three hours from Dubai.
